The Dargah Qadam Sharif in Paharganj is a 14th-century Sufi shrine complex built in 1375–76 CE during the Tughlaq period. The complex centres on a small domed tomb said to house an impression of the Prophet Muhammad's footprint (the qadam, or footprint, is a common relic form in Sufi traditions). Its mosque, madrasa, and gated courtyard survive largely intact, making it one of the best-preserved medieval monuments in central Delhi.
The shrine is tucked away in the lanes north of Paharganj's main bazaar and is often overlooked by budget travellers staying in the neighbourhood. It remains an active site of Islamic worship and receives a steady stream of Muslim devotees. The surrounding lanes give a flavour of Paharganj beyond the backpacker strip.
