Safdarjung Enclave Market is a small but pleasant neighbourhood market in a residential enclave between Defence Colony and the INA area. The market hosts an interesting concentration of bookshops, art supply stores, cafés, and provision stores that cater to the surrounding colony of artists, academics, and civil servants. It has a distinctly intellectual character compared to the commercial bustle of nearby South Extension.
The Full Circle Bookstore's original branch was in this area, and independent print shops, framing services, and art galleries fill out the market. A handful of good café-restaurants serve the neighbourhood. The market is best visited on a weekday when it is uncrowded and the shops are fully open.
