Dropadi

Dropadi is the long-running beach shack at the centre of Palolem and a reliable choice for Goan classics: pomfret in recheado masala, butter garlic king prawns, and the day's catch grilled tandoor-style. Tables are on the sand under thatched palms, lit by candles after dark.

The fish curry rice — the everyday Goan staple — is well-judged here, not too hot. Beers cold, service friendly, and prices about 30 to 40 percent above what you would pay inland. Reservations not taken; arrive before 8pm.
