Cabo de Rama Fort

Twenty kilometres north of Palolem, Cabo de Rama is a ruined fort perched on a clifftop above the sea. The Portuguese rebuilt the original Hindu fortification in the 18th century; today most of the outer walls remain, a small chapel at the centre still functions, and the rest is open ground with sheer drops to the Arabian Sea on three sides.

There are usually only a handful of visitors. A few stalls at the gate sell water and snacks. The views down the coast are excellent on a clear day, especially around sunset; combine the visit with the small palm-fringed beach below the cliffs.
