Morbi rewards a half-day visit. The standout sight is the Mani Mandir palace, which survived the catastrophic 1979 flood that wiped out most of the old city. Statues of the Jadeja ruling family are scattered through the town centre — a reminder that Morbi was an independent princely state until 1948. The Machhu river, whose dam break caused the flood, runs through the city and is best seen from the famous Hanging Bridge.
