Triund sits at 2,975 m at the foot of the Dhauladhar range, about 18 km from Dharamshala. On a clear day the views of the snow-capped peaks above and the Kangra Valley below are hard to beat.
The trail begins at Galu temple (2,130 m), where routes from Dharamkot, Dal Lake, and Bhagsunag converge. Above the snow nullah the path climbs steeply through 22 switchbacks before opening onto the broad, grassy ridge. The trek takes three to four hours at a comfortable pace. Camping on the ridge is permitted and a handful of dhabas serve tea and basic food. The snow line begins at Ilaqa (3,350 m), 5 km beyond Triund, if you want to push further.
