Nako is reached by road in upper Kinnaur, off NH-505 between the Spiti side and the Sutlej valley. Public buses and shared vehicles run irregularly, and delays from weather, landslides, or road work are normal. Most travellers arrive by hired car, motorbike, or a slow overland bus route between Kalpa, Pooh, Tabo, and Kaza.
