Nako Lake

Small high-altitude lake edged by willows, poplars, prayer flags, and village paths.

Nako Lake is small, but in this dry high country the water feels important. Willows and poplars soften the edge, village paths circle nearby, and the mountains rise bare and close behind the houses.

The lake is best at the quiet ends of the day, before vehicles and visitors flatten the mood. Walk the loop slowly, then climb a little above it for the view back over the village. In winter it may freeze; in summer it is more reflective than dramatic.
