Churdhar — also called Churi Chandni Dhar — is the highest peak in the outer Himalayas at 3,647 metres, dominating the skyline north of Nahan. The summit is topped by a small temple to Shirgul, a local Sirmauri deity considered an incarnation of Shiva. The mountain is a Hindu pilgrimage site and a serious trek.
The standard route is from Nohradhar via Teesri, a two-day approach with a stop in a forest rest house, leading to the ridge and the temple at the summit. From the top you look across to the snow-covered main Himalayan range — Bandarpunch, Swargarohini, and the Garhwal peaks — and south to the plains. June to October is the open season; the upper section is snowed in for the rest of the year.
