The beach at Murudeshwar curves below the temple hill with the giant Shiva statue visible above and the Western Ghats rising to the east. It is a working beach as well as a scenic one — fishing boats pulled up on the sand, nets spread out, and the activity of the fishing community most apparent in the early morning and late afternoon.
Swimming is possible but the sea here can be rough and there are no lifeguards. The beach is better for walking and watching the sunset than for bathing. The combination of the white statue above, the fishing boats on the sand, and the Konkan Railway viaduct visible to one side makes for a view that is distinctively Murudeshwar.
