Malayattoor Mount is a major Christian pilgrimage site associated with St Thomas, who is believed by local tradition to have visited the hill in the 1st century. The hilltop church draws its largest crowds during the Holy Week and Easter pilgrimage season.
Even outside the pilgrimage period, the climb is a notable religious outing from the Kalady area, with views over the surrounding hills and river country.
