Kollam is well connected by rail and road. The railway station (Kollam Junction) sits right in the centre of town on the Thiruvananthapuram–Ernakulam main line, with frequent trains to Thiruvananthapuram (around 1 hour) and Ernakulam/Kochi (2.5 hours).
By road, the journey from Thiruvananthapuram takes about 90 minutes by bus or taxi. State buses run frequently and cost very little. Intercity buses also connect to Varkala, Alappuzha, and Kochi.
The nearest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International (TRV), 70 km south.
