A long crescent of sand at the southern end of town, backed by casuarina trees and a working fishing harbour. The beach is more local than touristic — fishermen mend nets, children play cricket, and vendors sell fried fish and cut coconuts in the late afternoon.
The fishing harbour at the northern end is worth a dawn visit to watch the trawlers come in and the day's catch being sorted and sold. The beach itself stretches south for several kilometres; the further you walk from the main road, the quieter it gets. Swimming is possible but watch for strong currents, especially during and after the monsoon.
