Palakkad is one of Kerala's main rail gateways, with trains from Kochi, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Chennai and Bengaluru. Coimbatore airport is usually the most convenient airport, across the state border in Tamil Nadu; Kochi airport is farther but better connected for some international routes.
