Mithmumbri Beach

A wide, almost empty stretch of sand about four kilometres south of Deogad town, reached down a side road through coconut groves. The beach runs for over a kilometre between two low rocky headlands, with almost no development other than a handful of homestays at the southern end.

Swimming is generally safe between October and May; during the monsoon (June to September) the rip currents make it dangerous. Olive ridley turtles nest on this stretch of coast in winter, and a small turtle conservation project operates out of Velagar village just inland.
