Malvan Rock Garden

The Rock Garden runs along the rocky shoreline north of the town beach — a hundred metres or so of black basalt outcrops, tidal pools, and a paved walkway with benches that face out across the channel towards Sindhudurg Fort. It is not a garden in any conventional sense, but a small, atmospheric stretch of coast that the locals come to at sunset.

Time your visit for the late afternoon when the wind drops, the fishing fleet starts coming back, and the rocks turn warm orange in the last of the light. Soft-drink and snack sellers gather along the railing; an hour spent here is one of the more agreeable ways to use up a Malvan evening.
