The middle-class Marathi heart of Pune, just west of the river around Fergusson College Road and JM Road. The streets are full of students, second-hand bookshops, traditional restaurants serving pure-vegetarian thali, and the kind of furniture and saree shops that have been run by the same families for three generations.
The neighbourhood takes its name from the 1906 sports club around which it was planned. For visitors, the draw is Fergusson College Road -- always called FC Road -- with its bookshops, cafes, and street food, and the eateries on JM Road that serve some of the best traditional Maharashtrian food in the city.
