Sawantwadi Road is the nearest railway station, about 5 km from the town centre on the Konkan Railway line that runs between Mumbai and Mangalore — one of the most scenic rail routes in India, tunnelling through the Sahyadri ghats and crossing spectacular viaducts. Several daily trains stop here, including the Mandovi Express, Konkan Kanya Express, and Rajyarani Express. The train journey from Mumbai takes around 9–10 hours; from Goa's Madgaon station it is about 1.5 hours.
By road, Sawantwadi is on NH66 (the old NH17) coastal highway. Panaji (Goa) is about 95 km to the south; Kolhapur is around 140 km to the northeast via the ghats. State and private buses run regularly from Panaji, Kolhapur, and Pune. Local autos and taxis connect the railway station to the town centre.
