Durtlang Hills

Durtlang Hills rise north of central Aizawl and give one of the easiest panoramic views over the city. The road climbs past residential areas before the ridge opens out, with Aizawl stretched along its narrow spine and blue-green hills beyond.

The viewpoint is best in clear weather, especially late afternoon. Fog and rain can close the view completely, so do not save it for a tight final hour if the weather is uncertain.

A story
The ridge-top viewpoint is a reminder that Aizawl is not a valley city but a city balanced on a chain of hills. On clear evenings the houses below begin to glow before the sky goes dark, and the whole capital looks like it has been hung from the slopes.
