Parasuramesvara Temple is one of Bhubaneswar's key early temples, small compared with Lingaraja but exceptionally important for understanding the development of Odishan temple architecture. Its compact tower, carved walls and sculptural details show the style before it grew into the grander forms seen elsewhere in the city.
The temple is best visited slowly, with attention to the carvings rather than only the silhouette. Because Bhubaneswar has so many temples, smaller monuments can blur together; Parasuramesvara deserves its own stop because it shows the city's sacred architecture at an early and elegant stage.
