Bhartrihari Temple sits in the hills outside Alwar and draws pilgrims connected with the legend of Raja Bhartrihari, the king-turned-saint remembered across parts of north India. The temple complex is not polished in the way Rajasthan's palace sights are, but it has a lived devotional atmosphere.
Come for the mix of local pilgrimage, rocky Aravalli scenery, and a break from Alwar's forts and palaces. It is best visited with a driver, especially if you are combining it with Sariska or other countryside stops. During festival periods it can be far busier than its low profile suggests.
