The Char Chowk Haveli (literally "Four Courtyard Mansion") is the largest and most elaborately painted haveli in Lachhmangarh — a multi-storey merchant mansion built around four sequential courtyards, with almost every surface covered in fresco. The paintings range from mythological scenes (Krishna's life, scenes from the Ramayana) to the extraordinary secular content that makes Shekhawati unusual: European figures, mechanical innovations, and some panels with explicit erotic imagery that reflect a tradition of celebrating fertility and prosperity alongside religious themes.
The haveli is partially maintained and partially derelict, which adds to its atmosphere. Depending on who is around, you may be able to enter the interior courtyards; a caretaker or local guide will significantly increase what you're able to see and understand.
Coordinates are approximate for the town center — the haveli is near the main crossroads. Ask locals for "Char Chowk Haveli" which is well known.
