Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary lies along the road between Gangtok and Tsomgo Lake. It protects high-altitude forest and alpine vegetation, including rhododendrons, orchids, and medicinal plants.
Most visitors only glimpse it from the road, but even that helps explain why this corridor is more than a scenic drive. In clear weather, the sanctuary gives some of the prettiest mountain views on the approach to the lake.
