When to Go

The best time to visit Kanyakumari is October through March, when the heat is more bearable and the skies are clearer. The monsoon arrives in June (the southwest monsoon from the Arabian Sea side) and can make the offshore ferry to the Vivekananda Rock impassable.

The summer solstice around 21 June brings an unusual phenomenon: the setting sun and the rising moon are visible simultaneously on either side of the cape. Full moon nights near the equinoxes (March and September) also bring crowds hoping to see this effect. The beach scene is busiest during Indian school holidays and long weekends.
