Mannargudi is a one-temple town in the best possible sense. The Rajagopalaswamy Temple dominates the centre and the daily rhythms of the place, and most visitors come specifically for it. Beyond the temple complex, the town rewards a slow walk through its streets of old Brahmin houses, the Jain temple on the northern edge, and the lake that feeds the surrounding delta farmland.
