Sivakasi has a small railway station on the branch line from Virudhunagar Junction, which connects to the main line between Madurai and Tirunelveli. The more useful approach is to take a main-line train to Virudhunagar and then proceed by bus or auto-rickshaw to Sivakasi, about 20 kilometres away. Buses run regularly on this route.
By bus, Sivakasi is well connected to Virudhunagar, Madurai, Tirunelveli, and Tuticorin (Thoothukudi). The TNSTC (Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation) operates most routes. The nearest significant airport is Madurai International Airport, about 80 kilometres north. Tuticorin (Thoothukudi) Airport is slightly closer.
