Nirar Dam is a quieter water-and-forest stop south of Valparai, reached by narrow roads through plantation and reserve-edge country. It is less famous than Sholayar, but the setting is often more peaceful.
Come for the drive, the cool air, and the layered hill views around the reservoir. As with most Valparai outings, check locally for road and access conditions before setting out.
