Tripura Sundari Temple

Tripura Sundari Temple stands at Matabari near Udaipur, around 55 km from Agartala. It is one of Tripura's most important Hindu pilgrimage sites, dedicated to the goddess Tripura Sundari.

The shrine is compact but busy, especially during festivals. Go respectfully, and leave time for nearby Kalyan Sagar, the temple tank where devotees gather after worship.

The temple at Matabari is counted among the Shakti Peethas, sacred sites linked to the goddess Sati. Its low hill is traditionally described as tortoise-shaped, which is why devotees also call the place Kurma Pith.
