Ram Jhula is the wider of the two famous suspension bridges over the Ganges in Rishikesh, carrying a steady flow of pilgrims and visitors between Sivananda Nagar on the west bank and the Swarg Ashram area on the east. Parmarth Niketan — the largest ashram in Rishikesh and the venue for the evening Ganga Aarti — is directly downstream on the east bank.
The area around Ram Jhula, particularly the Swarg Ashram neighbourhood on the east bank, has the highest concentration of cafes, bookshops, yoga studios, and guesthouses aimed at international visitors. It can feel commercialised in high season, but the ghats along the river here are genuine pilgrimage sites functioning long before any tourist arrived. The junction at Ram Jhula is also the main hub for buses and autos running up to Laxman Jhula and south to Rishikesh town.
