Krishnasayer Park

Large lake and park dug by the Bardhaman rulers in the late seventeenth century.

Krishnasayer is a 33-acre tank dug in 1691 by Raja Krishnaram Ray. The old garden has survived only in pieces, but the water still gives Bardhaman a useful breathing space.

Locals come for boating, fairs, and evening walks around the lake. It is not a grand sight, but it helps explain the old Bengali city pattern of palaces, gardens, temples, and tanks set amid a very busy modern town.
