Dakhil Darwaza

Massive brick gateway marking the old northern entrance to Gour's citadel.

Dakhil Darwaza, also called Salami Darwaza, is the great surviving gate of Gour. It marked the northern entrance to the citadel and still has enough bulk to make the lost city legible.

The brickwork, guard rooms, octagonal corner towers, and floral and geometric decoration make it one of the clearest stops in Gour. Start here if you want the ruins to feel like a city rather than a scatter of monuments.
