Kotwali Darwaza is the southern gateway of the old citadel of Gour, standing close to the India-Bangladesh border. The name probably comes from kotwal, the Persian term for a police chief, and the 15th-century gate once marked a controlled entrance into the fortified city.
Only the rough structure and flanking walls survive, and access can depend on permission from the Border Security Force. It is best treated as part of a wider Gour-Pandua ruins circuit rather than as a stand-alone outing.
