The Kangsabati Dam is the reason Mukutmanipur exists as a travel stop. The dam road runs for kilometres beside the reservoir, with water on one side and low green hills on the other, and the views are especially good in the late afternoon.
Do not expect a heavily interpreted engineering monument. The draw is the scale of the water and the light over the red laterite landscape.
