Bunut Bolong is a huge sacred tree in the Jembrana hills, famous because the road passes through a natural opening in its trunk. It sounds like a novelty stop, and it is, but the scale of the tree and the cool green setting make it more memorable than that.
The detour also shows a different side of the Medewi area: inland villages, small warungs, and damp highland air instead of surf and black sand. Combine it with Pura Rambut Siwi or a slow drive through the rice fields.
