Campuhan Ridge Walk

An easy ridge walk through rice fields and forest above the Campuhan river

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is Ubud's most accessible piece of countryside — a path that runs along the spine of a ridge above the Campuhan river gorge, through open savannah grass, coconut palms, and patches of forest, with views down both sides to rice terraces and village rooftops. It begins near the bridge at the western end of Jalan Raya Ubud (where the Bridge Cafe sits) and continues for about 2.5 km to the village of Bangkiang Sidem.

The walk takes about 45 minutes each way at a relaxed pace. The concrete path means it's accessible in flip-flops, though proper shoes are better. Go early — by 8am — to beat the heat and the tour groups; the path is quiet in the early morning and the light across the valley is beautiful. The return is the same path, or you can continue to the village and find a ojek (motorcycle taxi) back.
