Wuring is a coastal Bugis and Bajo fishing village northwest of central Maumere, with stilt houses, boats, and a working-waterfront feel. It is not arranged as an attraction, which is part of the point.
Go respectfully, preferably with someone local or with enough Indonesian to avoid treating daily life as a display. The reward is a clearer sense of Maumere Bay than you get from the main road.
