An Armenian Apostolic church in the centre of Abadan, built during the oil-era for the Armenian Christian community that settled here when the refinery needed skilled workers and technicians. The church is a relic of the city's former diversity — Armenians, Indians, British, and Iranians from different faiths all lived in Abadan during its prosperous decades. The Armenian community has largely dispersed since the revolution, but the church survives and is occasionally used for services. Its exterior is simple and unassuming from the street; the interior is worth seeing if you can find it open.
