Pol-e Sefid (White Bridge)

The White Bridge is Ahvaz's most recognisable landmark and, when it was completed, the first suspension bridge in Iran. Its white painted cables and towers are visible from much of the city centre. The bridge carries heavy road traffic but is also walkable, and the views up and down the Karun from its midpoint are the best the city offers.

In the evening it is lit up and becomes a focal point for the city's riverside life — tea houses and food stalls set up along the bank below. The contrast between the industrial sprawl of Ahvaz and the quiet, wide river beneath the bridge is striking.
