Bandar Abbas International Airport has good connections to Tehran and other major Iranian cities; flights are frequent and relatively cheap on domestic Iranian airlines. The airport is about 10 kilometres from the city centre; taxis are available.
By road, Bandar Abbas is connected to the rest of Iran by the main southern highway. The journey from Kerman takes around 4–5 hours; from Shiraz it is a full day's drive. Long-distance buses serve the city from Tehran and other major cities, though the distances are substantial — Tehran is about 1,100 kilometres.
The ferry terminal is the main reason most visitors come. Ferries run regularly to Qeshm Island (30 minutes) and Hormuz Island (around 1 hour), with additional services further along the Gulf coast.
