The lookout above the northern end of Magome gives the town its wider setting: roofs and stone lanes below, the old road ahead, and Mount Ena across the valley. It is a simple stop, but it explains why Magome feels so different from a flat preserved quarter.
The view is best in clear weather, especially early or late in the day when the light catches the ridges. It is also the natural place to pause before continuing onto the Magome-Tsumago Trail.
