Kuchiba Residence

Kuchiba Residence is one of Hagi's surviving samurai houses, built between the late 18th and early 19th centuries for a senior official of the domain. The house is modest beside the grander merchant residences, but it gives a useful look at upper-ranking samurai life in the castle town.

The setting near the Hashimoto River is part of the appeal, especially if you are already walking the old castle-town streets west of the centre.
