Watanabe Kozo Residence preserves the home of a Hagi shipbuilding figure who studied naval architecture overseas before helping lead the Nagasaki Shipyard. The property is larger than many of Hagi's preserved houses and includes a storehouse, tearoom, and garden.
It works best as part of a circuit of Hagi's historic residences and Meiji-era industrial heritage.
