Kintai Bridge

Five-arched wooden bridge over the Nishiki River, first built for Iwakuni's castle town.

Kintai Bridge is Iwakuni's reason to detour: five wooden arches stepping across the Nishiki River with the castle hill behind them. The bridge dates to the 17th century in origin, though it has been rebuilt, and its steep curves are especially good in cherry blossom season when the riverbanks turn pink.
