Miyuki-dori is the covered shopping arcade that runs north from Himeji Station roughly parallel to Otemae-dori. Three blocks of it form one of the longest arcades in western Japan, and it is the place locals actually use: bakeries, izakayas, pachinko parlours, a couple of department stores, and several shops selling locally produced leather goods.
The arcade is a useful wet-weather walk towards the castle and a fair pick for an evening meal. The southern end has more chain shops; head further north for the older, more characterful stretches.
