Funamachi was Ogaki's old canal port, connected by water routes toward Kuwana. It is better known now as the endpoint of Basho's Narrow Road journey, marked by a statue and the small Sumiyoshi Lighthouse beside the water.
Come here after the memorial hall. The place is quiet, but in cherry blossom season the canal turns the literary stop into the prettiest walk in the city.
