Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine

Local shrine known for marriage blessings, summer wind chimes, and festival ties

Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine is the city's main Shinto stop, a short walk north-east of the old warehouse streets. It is especially associated with marriage and relationships, so you will see couples, wedding parties, and visitors drawing love fortunes or buying small red-thread charms.

In summer the shrine hangs glass wind chimes that catch both the breeze and the camera crowd. Even outside that season, it gives Kawagoe a useful change of mood after the busy shopping lanes: quieter, greener, and more local.
