Goza no Yu

Public bath beside Yubatake, built in a timber style recalling Edo and Meiji bathhouses.

Goza no Yu is the easiest public bath to add to a first visit, standing beside the Yubatake in a timber building that deliberately echoes older Japanese bathhouse architecture. The baths alternate between men and women, so repeat visitors may see a different room.

It is not the wildest soak in town, but it is central, atmospheric, and a good introduction to Kusatsu's very hot, very acidic water.
