Sainokawara Park

Hot-spring valley west of town, with steaming streams and an open-air bath.

Sainokawara Park is a short walk west of the Yubatake, where hot streams run through a stony valley before the woods close in. It gives Kusatsu a wilder edge after the compact bustle of the town centre.

The park is free to enter, and the large open-air bath inside it is one of the most memorable places to soak in Kusatsu. Even if you skip the bath, the walk is worth doing for the steam, stones, and mountain setting.
