Naritasan Omotesando

Old temple approach lined with food stalls, craft shops, souvenirs, and Narita's famous eel restaurants.

Naritasan Omotesando runs about 800 metres from the stations to Shinsho-ji. It has been the temple approach since the Edo period, and the curve of the street still carries old wooden shopfronts, confectioners, pickle shops, craft stalls, and unagi restaurants.

It is touristy in the best practical sense: easy to walk, easy to eat, and close enough to the airport that even a long layover can include a real piece of Japan outside the terminal.
