Arita Porcelain Park

Arita Porcelain Park is strange in a good way: a porcelain-themed complex built around a large replica of Dresden's Zwinger Palace. It could have been pure kitsch, but the ceramics displays inside make the German fantasy feel connected to Arita's export history.

Behind the palace are gardens and an old kiln, so the visit is more than a photo stop. It is outside the compact centre, and it makes most sense if you have a car or enough time for a taxi.
